Description: This course will explore “Patterns in Nature”. It relates to the final session of the course entitled “Art inspired by Nature” by the same tutor. We will focus on the following biological patterns in three sessions: 1. Symmetry, Fractals & Spirals; 2. Waves, Flow & Chaos and 3. Spots & Stripes, Arrays & Systems. During these interactive sessions, we will cover how these biological patterns emerge in the natural world and, most important, understand the underlying biological mechanisms involved in making these patterns.

The artistic aspects of patterns in nature are covered in a sister Art History & Appreciation course, during the Autumn Term, which you are encouraged to consider.

BOOKING for 2026-2027 courses via our bookings website (member login required) opens on 2nd July 2026.
