| Description: | 60 years ago, CP Snow highlighted the division in Western culture between arts and science. In the UK the arts have dominated, and scientific ignorance is almost expected. UK politicians are typical, with only 10 per cent of MPs holding science qualifications, although this is not true internationally. This course is maths-light and introduces basic science that can guide political decisions on the economy, climate and sustainability: ‘Is continuous growth possible?’; ‘Will we exhaust resources?’ |
