Description: This conflict ran from immediately after WWII until the fall of Berlin Wall in 1989. The forces of NATO were constantly expecting, and preparing for, an attack from those of the Warsaw Pact. A mistake or understanding, on either side, could have had catastrophic consequences. However, relatively few people know much about it. This talk will cover some of the most significant episodes and especially the RAF’s role within them. The world came very close to nuclear Armageddon on several occasions during this period.

Steve Tindall served for 30 years in the RAF, including a tour of duty on the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF).
