| Description: | The Government and Chiefs of Staff knew Britain could not survive nuclear war. A study predicted 20 million deaths from all causes, with food stocks exhausted within six months. It was calculated that, 30 years after a couple of hours of WW3, the UK population would total around 10 million, living at subsistence level in a ravaged countryside. This course draws on the findings of a seven-year research programme. It will show how the British V-bomber force acted as the UK’s sword and shield during the Cold War, helping to prevent WW3 by deterring the Soviet Union. |
