Friday 10th July 10.30, mid-afternoon Samphire Hoe, Dover with Helen Nattrass.

Following interest expressed at last year's Chalk and Flint Day, I've arranged for a slightly shorter day at Samphire Hoe where I can talk about the Channel Tunnel Construction as I did it.

The day will start around 10.30 for 11.00 until about 3-ish in the education room at Samphire Hoe, just by the car park.

I'll talk about the Channel Tunnel, some interesting aspects of layout and construction in layman's language.

I'll lead a short walk round areas of Samphire Hoe where I worked, including a few anecdotes.

It's low tide early afternoon, so depending on the weather, we might get on the beach at the Dover end of the sea wall and look at the Chalk Marl  -  maybe a chance to collect a pyrite nodule!

There may be a small charge depending on the refreshments situation.
