Description: We will explore poetry and society beginning with Alfred Lord Tennyson's "Maud," delving into love, loss, and madness and cultural change linking Victorian era introspection to the emergence of modernism. The course culminates in T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land," highlighting its complex imagery and themes of despair, fragmentation, and the search for meaning. A self managed learning experience where questions are just as important as answers when examined from a current viewpoint.
