| Description: | The Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia was situated in what we now know as the West Midlands. From the 7th Century it grew as a kingdom in its own right. It fought and took over other Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. In the 9th Century its power began to decline. In this course we will look at the reigns of the kings of Mercia and their successes. Then to the decline and disappearance of the kingdom as such. |
